Thanks to Global warming and the depleting oil reserves, everyone holds the idea that Gasoline powered cars are the bane of the society. Most people are of the opinion that the electric cars are the best thing that could ever happen to human kind. But those who so strongly voice their support for the electric cars are ignoring some of the negative points of the vehicle.
1.Batteries: All the major electric vehicles use standard batteries to store the energy and run the cars. Batteries are the weakest point of the car and they severely hinder performance. First of all, the battery of the electric car takes a long time to charge, which means, once you run out of battery you will have to wait at least 3-4 hours before hitting the road again. Some of the electric car batteries cannot hold the charge long enough which means you will have to keep recharging the batteries from time to time.
2.Battery Fumes: Most people do not know that battery fumes contain toxic gases that can severely harm the body. If a battery leaks and starts emitting fumes within the car, it can be fatal for the passengers. The fumes from the car batteries contain heavy metals that can completely destroy the homeostasis of the adult human body. These fumes are known to cause growth deformities and heighten the risk of cancer among human beings by triggering somatic mutations.
3.Silence of the cars: Unlike gasoline powered cars, the electric vehicles make no sound at all, which means traffic accidents are bound to increase with these new cars. According to recently released survey the near silent electric cars can easily sneak up on the pedestrians and cause a large number of casualties. Researchers at the Warwick University are collaborating with electric car manufacturers to incorporate artificial sounds into electric cars so that they can warn pedestrians and other cars about their presence.
Although Electric cars provide a significant advantage over the gasoline powered vehicles in terms of cutting down emissions they come with a set of disadvantages of their own. So it goes without saying that the Electric cars are not as green as they seem.
