Barack Obama, the president of the masses, chosen by the deprived and have nots of the thriving American society woke up one fine morning only to stare at another nightmare that unfolded itself slowly and surely.
The results of the midterm elections hit him squarely on the head leaving him fuzzy and wooly headed. He looked around in order to find some solace but could find none in the sneering faces of the Republicans who gloated at the unprecedented outcome, nor could he derive any satisfaction from his fellow Democrats who seemed to pin him down with an accusing look that spelled, ‘we told you so’.
So what did the poor little Premier do? He started to dream anew! A dream that took him away from the shores of his homeland and troubles, from the economic downturn and the tea party adversaries, from the unemployment and health schemes that failed to do any good, he found himself away from it all staring down a gold lined path instead. A path that turned eastwards, to the mysterious lands of the Orient which lured him on with the promises laden with riches once again.
The Wizard of Asia beckoned Obama and the presie made up his mind. Yup! Yup! Said Bobo his faithful companion urging him to take the gold lined avenue but the President was not to be led this time. “I will not walk”, he emphasized nodding at the huge Air Force One waiting on the sidelines. But where is the money? Piped in his conscience. “Haven’t you heard of tax payers?” Interjected the Numero Uno of USA , “they will pay for the royal travel. After all, taking up residence at the White House, does have its advantages.”
So, on went the great Obama to the land of beggars and snakecharmers intent on wrestling Buffalo out of the clutches of Bangalore, and yes, to establish the fact that the we will let you join the elite club only if you hand us a few thousand jobs every year. Thank you, if you please!
Jakarta, Seoul, Yokohama followed in quick succession and the dollar rose surprisingly once he was safely away tasting the delicious green tea ice cream while gazing at the Great Buddha in Japan. Sunday saw him home once more with suspicions of the dollar dipping once more as the Wizard of East tries hard to weave his magic two years from now on the general public of the West!
